Missions

Each year, usually over our fall break, students and faculty from BBS visit what some have called “one of the holiest places on earth,” the City of Children orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico.  Our mission groups usually range in size from 20 to 50 members.  After a flight from Nashville or Atlanta to San Diego we travel a couple of hours south on a bus across the border and arrive at the City of Children.  The mission team usually delivers needed items, such as shoes, school supplies, food, etc. to needy families in areas surrounding the City of Children each morning.  We then get to play with the children at the orphanage in the afternoons and teach the children during a Vacation Bible School each evening.  Group devotionals each morning and evening are led by different members of our group.  Many who have gone on this trip have used the expression “life changing” to describe what they have experienced.  Undoubtedly, everyone is a given a much greater appreciation for all the things we take for granted back home and our eyes are opened to the physical and spiritual needs of others in a way most of us have never experienced before.  Even though our bodies are always ready to get back to our own beds, pieces of our hearts remain in Mexico with the precious children we leave behind.
